LNER adds six languages to onboard digital service

Passengers can now access travel updates and onboard services in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Simplified Chinese.

LNER has expanded its onboard digital service to provide travel information in six additional languages.

Passengers can access the All Onboard portal by scanning a QR code on the back of their train seat. The service provides live journey updates, food and drink ordering, journey planning, station information and access to the LNER Perks loyalty scheme.

Information for international passengers

The portal is now available in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Simplified Chinese, as well as English.

LNER said many of its colleagues also wear country flags on their name badges to help passengers identify team members who speak more than one language.

In addition to travel information, All Onboard gives passengers access to the LNER podcast Routes and the LNER Kids Club podcast.

Nick Bibby, customer experience improvement manager at LNER, said: “Every year we welcome customers from across the UK and around the world onboard our trains. We know that English may not be everyone’s first language, and that many people may be unfamiliar with the UK rail network, so we’re really pleased to be making our onboard portal available in a number of languages. This update is a brilliant way for our customers to access travel information while travelling with us, and to help them to travel with greater confidence.”
