Works to begin on Belfast Cycling Network link

A two-way protected cycle lane will be created between Durham Street and College Square North, linking existing facilities near Grand Central Station with Belfast city centre.

Works on a Belfast Cycling Network scheme covering Durham Street and College Square North are due to begin this week, Northern Ireland Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed.

The project will upgrade existing cycling facilities to create a two-way protected cycle lane. It will connect active travel measures delivered through the Grand Central Station project with the northern side of Belfast city centre at College Street.

Temporary traffic restrictions

Kimmins said the scheme demonstrated her commitment to providing safer and more attractive infrastructure for people walking, wheeling or cycling on shorter everyday journeys.

She thanked the public and residents in advance for their cooperation and asked them to comply with temporary traffic restrictions while the works are completed.
