Lagan Construction has secured a £53.3m Ministry of Defence contract to refurbish and hand over airfield infrastructure at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
The contractor will deliver the construction and refurbishment works, followed by commissioning and handover of the completed assets to the MoD. The contract started on 25 September 2026 and is scheduled to run until 19 July 2028.
Airfield operating surfaces programme
The award was made through a competitive dialogue process for prequalified suppliers under the MoD’s Airfield Operating Surfaces Programmatic Approach Framework Alliance Contract (AOS-PA FAC).
Lagan and VolkerFitzpatrick were appointed to the framework alliance in October 2022. The wider programme covers infrastructure works at military airfields.
The contract award notice was published on 29 September 2026 through the government’s Find a Tender service.
RAF infrastructure experience
Lagan has previously provided early contractor involvement support for runway refurbishment at RAF Cranwell.
In February 2026, the company completed a £44m refurbishment of the runway, taxiways and aeronautical ground lighting at RAF Valley. It also completed a £70m runway refurbishment at RAF Shawbury in December 2025 and a £35.2m runway and airfield-lighting scheme at RAF Wittering.
