Blackpool Transport appoints new tramway and commercial directors

Steve Staley and Jamie Swift have joined the operator’s executive board after being promoted from within the business.

Blackpool Transport has appointed Steve Staley as Tramway Director and Jamie Swift as Commercial Director, strengthening operational representation on the board of the Fylde Coast transport operator.

The pair have been promoted from within Blackpool Transport Services Limited, which operates tram and bus services and is wholly owned by Blackpool Council.

Industry experience

Swift joined Blackpool Transport in January 2025 and was most recently Head of Commercial. Before that, he held senior roles at Edinburgh Trams and Tramlink Nottingham.

Staley became Tramway Operations and Safety Manager in June last year. His previous experience includes roles with Manchester Metrolink, Dubai Metro and Riyadh Metro.

Blackpool Transport Managing Director Lea Harrison said: “Both Jamie and Steve have already helped to transform operational and commercial performance across our organisation.

“Bringing with them fresh ideas and a wealth of industry experience, their elevation to the board of directors will help them to continue this work at a more strategic level as we plan for further enhancements to transport services that tens of thousands of people rely on every day.”
