WM Trains is continuing its partnership with the Rail Safe Friendly programme by sponsoring rail safety education for 90 schools at Silver level.
The programme, run by Learn Live, uses digital content delivered to schools to teach children about the risks of trespassing on railway land.
Reaching young people
Rail Safe Friendly was launched in March 2023 and has since reached more than 3 million young people across more than 18,000 schools, according to Learn Live.
Stuart Heaton, managing director of Learn Live and Rail Safe Friendly, said WM Trains’ continued support would help make railway safety education accessible to more young people.
“Their ongoing support means that we will be able to reach many more young people in delivering vital rail safety education in order to prevent injuries and save lives.”
Shaun Keeling, head of security and emergency response at WM Trains, said the safety of passengers, colleagues and local communities was the operator’s “number one priority”.
“By bringing educational safety content to 90 schools across our network, we’ll be helping to protect young people from the dangers of trespass, both now and into adulthood.”
