Anglian Water is restructuring its contractor alliance to deliver around £750m of works through a new catchment-based programme during AMP8.
The Place-Based programme will replace the separate management of treatment works, water networks and environmental schemes. Under the revised model, each integrated team will take responsibility for planning and delivering work across an allocated catchment.
Five delivery teams
The @one Alliance expects the model to allow partners to combine construction activities, share resources and identify opportunities for single interventions that address multiple infrastructure problems.
Delivery organisations will be reduced from six teams to five. The new structure will cover bioresources, nutrient removal, large treatment, and storm and networks, alongside a standalone team for the major Whitlingham programme.
Anglian Water said the approach is intended to strengthen accountability, reduce repeat site visits and improve certainty across the programme.
Investment locations
Major areas of work include the Whitlingham, Bedford and Flag Fen water recycling centres, as well as catchment programmes in Cotton Valley, Colchester, Wymondham and Ipswich.
The alliance’s capital workload is set to more than double from £1.2bn to £3bn during AMP8, making this Anglian Water’s largest investment programme to date.
The @one Alliance comprises Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, Mott MacDonald Bentley, MWH Treatment, Skanska and Sweco.
