Breedon appoints James Brotherton as CEO from January 2027

The construction materials group has named its chief financial officer as successor to Rob Wood, who will retire after 12 years with the business.

Breedon has appointed James Brotherton as its next chief executive, with the change taking effect on 1 January 2027.

Brotherton has been the construction materials group’s chief financial officer since 2021. He worked closely with outgoing chief executive Rob Wood on Breedon’s “expand and improve” strategy, which included expanding into the United States and transferring the company to the London Stock Exchange’s main market.

Wood to support transition

Wood joined Breedon as group finance director in 2014 and became chief executive in 2021. He will step down from the board and retire at the end of 2026.

He will remain an employee of Breedon and support the leadership transition until the end of September 2027.
