East Midlands Railway (EMR) has launched a tourism map showing how visitors can reach attractions across the region by rail and bus.
Produced in partnership with the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA), the map is intended to help people plan leisure trips without relying on a car, while supporting local destinations and the wider visitor economy.
Destinations across the region
The guide brings together cultural, historic and outdoor attractions, alongside local experiences and transport links. It includes destinations such as Creswell Crags in north Nottinghamshire and Sudbury Hall in south Derbyshire, as well as local railways including Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Peak Rail.
The map covers journeys using bus, rail and tram, and is aimed at families, groups of friends and visitors looking to explore somewhere new. It is available at participating EMR stations and can also be downloaded from the EMR website.
Tom Rooney, strategic transport integration manager at East Midlands Railway, said: “Our region is packed with fantastic places to explore, and our new tourism map makes it easier to discover them without needing to get behind the wheel.”
He added: “We hope the map inspires people to try something different, leave the car at home and make their next adventure a public transport one.”
Mayor of the East Midlands Claire Ward said the map would make it easier to find destinations accessible by bus, rail and tram, describing it as “a really useful guide for discovering more of the East Midlands without having to get in the car”.
EMR, which is operated by Transport UK, is also working with other combined authorities in the areas it serves to explore whether similar maps can be developed.
