London Northwestern Railway plans Standard Plus ticket trial

The new ticket will offer a dedicated seating area and at-seat features on LNR services from later this autumn.

London Northwestern Railway (LNR) is to trial a new Standard Plus ticket, giving passengers access to a dedicated seating area on services to and from London Euston.

The operator said Standard Plus customers will be able to use an “exclusive carriage” area and access at-seat features not available elsewhere on the train. Tickets are expected to go on sale later in autumn 2026.

Trial to run until March 2027

The trial will run until Wednesday 31 March 2027. LNR said new signage would appear in the relevant carriages in the coming weeks, with further details to be published on its website and social media channels.

The initiative follows the introduction of LNR’s electric Class 730/2 fleet, which entered service in June. The fleet consists of 36 five-carriage trains designed and built by Alstom.

LNR said the new trains had increased capacity by more than 40,000 seats at the busiest times.

Jonny Wiseman, LNR’s customer experience and commercial director, said: “The introduction of our fantastic new Class 730 fleet means we have more than 40,000 extra seats at the busiest times to make journeys more comfortable for our customers.

“We know from listening to our customers there is demand for access to a guaranteed seat in a dedicated area of the train which is why we are excited to unveil Standard Plus.”
