M27 Junction 10 now links traffic in all directions

Two new slip roads have opened at Hampshire’s Junction 10, with one additional eastbound lane still due this winter.

Drivers can now join the M27 westbound and leave it eastbound at Junction 10 near Fareham, after two new slip roads opened on Monday 12 October 2026.

The changes complete the junction’s four-way, or “all-moves”, operation. Previously, motorists could leave the motorway only when travelling west and join it only when heading east.

Final lane still to open

The latest phase follows the opening on 14 September of a westbound off-slip, a motorway underpass and four roundabouts. An additional lane providing access to the eastbound on-slip remains under construction and is expected to open in early winter 2026.

Hampshire County Council said the main construction programme for the scheme, which is valued at more than £100m, remains on track for completion by winter 2026. It expects the completed junction to carry about 30,000 vehicles a day.

The council is delivering the project with support from National Highways, while VolkerFitzpatrick is the main contractor.

Councillor Steve Forster, Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Lead for Highways and Passenger Transport, said: “Our teams are continuing to work hard to finish all elements of the Junction 10 scheme, having opened the first phase in September, and I am pleased to confirm more road space will be operational on Monday 12 October.”

Link to Welborne development

The junction provides access to the A32 and A3222 and is intended to support the planned Welborne Garden Village north of Fareham. The development is expected to include up to 6,000 homes, as well as schools, community facilities and employment space.

Temporary speed limits and lane restrictions between Junctions 9 and 11 will remain in place until early 2027. National Highways is using the period to complete safety work, final checks and technology testing.

Andrew Jackson, programme manager at National Highways, said: “Opening these new slip roads is a key milestone in our aim to deliver smoother, safer journeys, and we continue to work closely with Hampshire County Council to support this project.”
