Resonate is to extend deployment of its Luminate traffic management platform across the entire Scottish rail network, under a partnership with Scotland’s Railway.
The company says Luminate supports real-time operational decision-making, service performance management and operational planning. It is also intended to improve collaboration between operational teams, helping to increase network capacity and resilience while reducing the effects of delays.
Expansion follows Central Belt deployment
The wider rollout follows an initial deployment across Scotland’s Central Belt and the use of Resonate technology at the North Clyde Service Delivery Centre in Yoker.
Yoker uses Resonate’s Initiate access management product and Scalable signalling control system alongside Luminate.
The Scottish deployment will also include a test harness, enabling timetable changes and operational plans to be assessed in a digital environment before implementation. Resonate said this will help identify issues, validate decisions and reduce operational risk when preparing new timetables.
The test capability builds on experience from other rail deployments, including readiness work carried out ahead of the December 2025 East Coast Main Line timetable change.
Connected operational systems
Ben Craig, chief of staff at Resonate, said Luminate could integrate with existing operational environments rather than requiring established systems to be replaced.
“This enables railways to build a connected digital ecosystem, supporting better decision-making, greater operational efficiency and long-term flexibility,” he said.
Craig said the Scottish expansion demonstrated Resonate’s aim of supporting the modernisation of railway operations through targeted innovation.
