The Scottish Plant Owners Association (SPOA) and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association Scotland (CECA Scotland) have formed a partnership to address skills shortages across the plant, construction and civil engineering sectors.
The organisations will combine their networks, expertise and resources to support recruitment, training and clearer career pathways. They also expect to collaborate on lobbying around issues affecting the wider construction industry.
Plant training added to academy offer
From this month, SPOA will become actively involved in the CECA Scotland Academy, which provides practical training for aspiring operatives and professionals.
The academy has developed 180 graduates, with 71% progressing to positive destinations, according to CECA Scotland. Its delegates will gain access to SPOA and its members, giving them greater insight into the plant sector and the career opportunities it offers.
SPOA will also fund training opportunities for academy graduates who want to pursue careers in plant.
