Transport technology company Transreport is partnering with Transport for London (TfL) to deploy its Passenger Assistance platform on the Elizabeth line.
The agreement is Transreport’s first entry into the Metro and urban rail market, extending its work across national and regional rail networks in Great Britain and Japan.
Real-time coordination
The Elizabeth line carries around 800,000 customer journeys each weekday across 41 stations. Unlike longer-distance services, its frequent operation means passengers may request assistance at a station without arranging it in advance.
Transreport said its platform will give frontline teams a shared digital system to record the support a passenger needs, exchange relevant information and coordinate handovers between stations in real time.
The company said the system will also generate operational data on when, where and how assistance is being delivered. It expects this information to help inform decisions on staffing, training, service planning and future accessibility investment.
“The Elizabeth line marks an important step for Transreport as we enter the Metro and urban rail market. Being able to travel spontaneously and still get the assistance you need is fundamental to accessible urban transport,” said Jay Shen, founder and chief executive of Transreport.
“When someone arrives at a station and needs support, frontline teams need to be able to respond quickly and coordinate effectively across the journey.”
Shen added that the technology would provide teams with a shared digital environment while creating operational insight to support future decisions on staffing, training and investment.
All 41 Elizabeth line stations are step-free from street to platform. TfL’s use of Passenger Assistance is intended to complement that physical access by supporting the staff coordination and information needed for assisted journeys.
Transreport said its Passenger Assistance technology has supported more than 12 million assistance requests across rail networks in Great Britain and Japan.
